Ramadan begins on Saturday

Posted: Aug 20th, 2009

The High Judiciary Council (HJC) of Saudi Arabia has announced that since the moon of Ramadhan was not sighted this evening in Saudi Arabia, we shall be completing thirty (30) days of Sha’baan (1430A.H.), in accordance with the hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah:

“Fast when you see the crescent. If it is obscured to you, then complete thirty days of Sha’baan. And break your fast when you see the crescent. If it is obscured to you then fast thirty days.” - Al-Bukharee and Muslim

As per the masjid’s official policy of following international sightings, we shall be starting our taraweeh prayers the evening of Friday, August 21st, 2009 after Isha prayer. And the first fast of Ramadhan will be on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009. May Allaah accept our deeds during this blessed month.
